About Heels Down, Eyes Up
A Trainer's Eye. A Parent's Standard.
Heels Down, Eyes Up was started by two people who look at a pony very differently and agree on exactly one thing: it has to be exceptional.
Erin Bownds brings more than 25 years in the equine industry. She grew up in Texas showing in both the Junior Hunter and Junior Jumper rings, and today her students and horses win consistently in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings at "A" shows in and out of state, as well as at local NTHJC and UDJC shows. Her training is built on precision and accuracy, helping every horse jump the best it can, while keeping the fun in riding and building a real connection between horse and rider. That eye, sharpened over decades in the ring, is how she knows a division pony when she sees one.
Her partner is a horse-show dad with one rule: his daughter only rides a pony that is exceptional. Safe, honest, sound, and capable of winning. Every pony on our roster has to clear that same bar before we would put your rider on it.
Based in Texas, we prioritize the highest standard of equine care, proper schooling, and honest representation. Whether you are seeking a full-year lease for the rated show circuit or the ideal step-up pony, our roster represents top-quality hunter/jumper mounts with ring-ready consistency.
